Greetings owners,
I am anxious to get underway as I am sure everybody is! We are currently sitting at 23 owners signed up on proboards and 21 on fantrax. If you have not yet registered on fantrax please do so! It helps me keep track of who is registered and who hasn't.
Filling League
We are actively looking to fill SEATTLE, ARIZONA, SAN FRAN, BALTIMORE, MIAMI and TEXAS, with one owner who has claimed DETROIT but has not registered. If you know anyone that may be interested in any of these teams with the current format please reach out to them. I understand that these teams are left unclaimed for a reason, their keepers are less desirable. I am holding out hope that we can keep the current format and get these teams filled as we were able to get 23 owners in less than 24 hrs. You all signed up with the current understanding of league rules and set up, but changes may be needed if we can't find owners. I am hesitant to change keeper rules to entice owners of bad teams because that may be a drastic change from what we all signed up for. There are a few possible ways we can adjust the keeper rules to give incentive for the weaker MLB teams to take ownership. I am more willing to reduce the number of teams in the league, although one of the main reasons I created this league was for the 30 team experience. I am not making any decisions yet as I am holding out hope we can fill this league to 30. I am just putting out a feeler to see where everyone is. I will create a poll on proboards, please vote, and pass on any suggestions you may have. I would like to continue to make this a dynamic democratic league.
Payment
As for payment, I appreciate everyone that has paid. I have set a deadline for payment as MARCH 1 on fantrax, but obviously I would like to get everyone paid up sooner. I am very hesistant to start the draft without everyone paid in full, as I do not want to deal with replacing owners for non payment, and especially do not want to do this mid draft. I am hoping we will be able to draft at the beginning of next week, so I would like to ask everyone to be paid by the end of the weekend (FEB 17th). If you are having any problems with payment, please let me know! League dues are $20.00 plus your portion of $79.95 fee for fantrax premium which is $2.67 for a total of $22.67. There are a few reasons this league will have to be a fantrax premium league, one being we are targeting a 30 team format
Last thing I am considering is the reduction of scoring rosters. If we are able to fill to 30 teams, I will be reducing scoring rosters from 30 to 25. This will effectively eliminate the CI, MI, one OF, one SP, and one RP. Making the scoring roster 18 plus 7 bench spots. This is because it will not be possible (or very difficult) to roster 30 guys in a 30 team league. If this change does take place roster will be
C
1B
2B
SS
3B
OF
OF
OF
UT
4SP
5RP
7Bench
Minors roster limit of 35 will stay the same. Again if we decide to reduce league size, the original roster spots of 30 MLB will stay the same.
Thanks,
Robin
