Hello league! Really looking forward to this as I’ve always wanted to try out my GM skills. I have a question about keepers though: does this not work like a typical keeper league? What i mean by that is if i decide to not keep any players would i then have a first round pick open whereas a team that does select a keeper gets their first round pick filled with that keeper? So a team like mine (Arizona) that does not have any players worthy of being drafted in top 4 rounds could not select any keepers and have their pick of all unkept players in rounds 1 & 2? I figured everyone knew what i was talking about but just want to make sure. I’m holding off on selecting any keepers until i know for sure the answer to this. Thanks and good luck this year

Everybody should have 2 MLB and 2 prospects. No one should have extra 1st rd pick or picks.

I don't think chaining the rules now would be fair. For example if I knew about such a rule I would have picked Arizona or Detroit over KC and they were still available. Some teams have better prospects than MLB players.

I gave a suggestion for the draft order that may help... I dont want to let it out yet so it cant be manipulated but it would most certainly help those teams with poor keepers. Even the MiLB keepers factor in

I’m not talking about changing the rules. I’m asking for clarification on the rules. But how is it fair for the owner of the Orioles, who don’t have a single player worthy of being drafted in the first 10 rounds to compete with the Indians who have 2 top 5 overall players? Or the Braves or the Yankees or the Phillies? Most keeper leagues count your first keeper as your first round pick, second keeper is your second round pick etc. That way a team with no worthy players gets first shot at the player pool of unkept players. I mean the owner of the Orioles, if he gets randomly drawn at the end of the round, would have the core of his team Jonathon Villar, Trey Mancini and the 30th ranked unkept player, Mitch Haniger for instance compared to the indianswho get realistically have Ramirez, Lindor and Scherzer. Talk about having no chance to compete, and all because he just signed up last. Just doesn’t make much sense as far as competitive balance is my point.

This league is more about multiple seasons than just this year. Check your messages, sent you something.

I totally agree that some teams are way better than other in terms of keeper/prospects. But I guess this is the advantage of getting in the league earlier....Personally I would have liked to have a draft from the beginning or have some salary cap so when you have a top player you have to pay a big salary...but will looking forward to play with the current setting.

Right that’s my point: players who emailed the commish 2 hours later than other players get saddled with Mancini and Villar going up against Lindor and Ramirez for years to come. Just seems like there is a better way to level the playing field.
Is this keeper system not universally used? If you keep Lindor, he counts as your first round pick. If I don’t want to keep Mancini, i get a pick in the first round. Your first round pick=Lindor, my first round pick=whoever i want from the unkept player pool instead of being forces to keep a player who wouldn’t be drafted in the first 10 rounds.
Maybe there is another formula to make it more competitive. That’s justthe system I’ve always played.

Yeah, but as I said before if I knew about this rule I would have chosen Arizona over my team because they have better prospects and I would not keep anybody from the team and get 2 first round picks. There are still very good players left. Plus, as someone mentioned earlier this is a dynasty league and we do not play just one season...

Personally if I am Baltimore I would keep Bundy n Manchini but again it was a 1st come first serve and your choice to join and the commish is willing to,listen,to any suggestions

Maybe a comprimise could be you have to start out with 3 keepers and the reaining spot if you don't choose to keep a 4th player would be an additional pick.

Not being harsh, just saying the league will pan itself out after drafts and trades

What was first talked about I believe is that you didn't have to keep all 4 "keepers" But I am not sure what the intent was after that.
